Mass = length × π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × density, with units converted from mm³ to cm³. Reverse the formula for length.

Density varies by formulation, additives, moisture, and manufacturer. Preset values are typical engineering estimates, not batch certificates. For inventory work, weigh the filament directly when possible.
Example
The same 100 m length weighs much more at 2.85 mm than at 1.75 mm because cross-sectional area changes with diameter squared.
