Shrinkage Compensation Calculator
Oversize a model from a measured linear shrinkage rate so the cooled part approaches its target dimension.
How the calculation works
Designed dimension = target dimension ÷ (1 − shrinkage rate). Dividing, rather than simply adding the percentage, compensates against the oversized starting dimension.
How to use this result
Measure shrinkage using a representative calibration part printed in the same orientation, material, settings, and cooling conditions. X, Y, and Z may require different measured rates.
Example
For a 100 mm target with 0.6% measured shrinkage, design slightly above 100.6 mm because shrinkage applies to the larger starting size.
