Volumetric Flow Calculator
Find whether a speed target asks your hotend to melt more plastic than it can reliably supply.
How the calculation works
Volumetric flow = line width × layer height × linear print speed. This rectangular approximation is the common planning formula used for slicer limits.
How to use this result
A published hotend limit is not universal. Polymer, nozzle, temperature, melt zone, extruder grip, and acceptable surface quality all matter. Determine a stable limit with a controlled flow test.
Example
At 0.45 mm width, 0.20 mm height, and 100 mm/s, the requested flow is 9 mm³/s.
