Resin

Hollow Model Resin Savings Calculator

Quantify whether hollowing meaningfully reduces resin use before you trade material savings for drains, supports, and post-processing.

Inputs

Include shell, supports, and any cups produced by your slicer.

How the calculation works

Saved resin = (solid volume − hollow volume) × quantity. Saved cost = saved resin ÷ bottle volume × bottle price.

How to use this result

Hollowing is not automatically better for every part. Account for wall thickness, drain holes, trapped resin, strength, orientation, and cleaning access before treating material savings as a final design decision.

Example

A model reduced from 180 ml to 75 ml saves 105 ml per print before multiplying by the run quantity.
