3D Print Line Width Calculator

Translate a nozzle size and chosen extrusion-width ratio into a clear line-width target before you tune walls or infill.

Inputs

Use your slicer and nozzle guidance as the authority.

How the calculation works

Line width = nozzle diameter × width ratio. Approximate wall thickness = line width × perimeter count.

How to use this result

This is a geometry helper, not a flow-limit guarantee. Very wide lines may need a lower speed or higher volumetric-flow capacity; very narrow lines can affect strength and consistency.

Example

A 0.4 mm nozzle at 112% targets a 0.448 mm line, which three simple adjacent walls approximate as 1.344 mm.
